Property Tycoon David Nourani breaths new lease of life into former Edgware Police Station
The new owner of the former police station is due to be converted into a 38-bedroom luxury hotel development. The development will comprise 33x double and 5x single boutique style bedrooms.
The building on Whitchurch Lane was built in 1932 in a mock Dutch style. It ceased to be operational as a Met police station in 2021 when it was snapped up by north London entrepreneur and property mogul David Nourani who said, “This attractive locally listed building is of strategic importance to us given our other sizeable holdings within this part of Edgware and was an essential addition to our portfolio. The building will be sympathetically extended to create additional space and shall be very much in-keeping and preserving the attractive character of this charming building.”
Planning officers within Harrow Council have already recommended the scheme for approval. In a document submitted to the planning committee, officers claim there is a need for hotel rooms for tourism, with the additional rooms contributing towards the London-wide requirements. A report adds: “Given the clear economic benefits of the scheme within a preferred town centre location, the principle of development can be supported.”
The development ‘would not cause significant impact’ to the town for it to be ‘detrimental to the character and appearance of the area’, according to officers. They also say it will generate employment opportunities in the area.
Once the plans are approved, the developers will be expected to make contributions to the Harrow Community Infrastructure Levy (CIL) of just under £100,000, as well as to Greater LondonAssembly CIL – provisionally at around £75,000.
